PUD 3 Going Forward with Moving All Operations to John's Prairie |
|
The Mason County PUD No. 3 Board of Commissioners Tuesday passed a motion to go forward with moving all of its operations to John's Prairie. Since the appeal of the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) Determination of Non-significance has been denied, the PUD 3 Commissioners needed to take action on moving all operations or just the warehouse. The vote was two-to-one with Commissioner Bruce Jorgenson voting against, saying again that he supports moving the warehouse, not the administration offices. Jorgenson and a group of residents have been voicing opposition to the project for several months. The other two commissioners, Linda Gott and Tom Farmer, have heard only support of the concept which is expected to take advantage of a favorable construction bidding climate and low interest rates.

To date, more than 100 servicemen and women from Washington State have been killed in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1694 in Shelton want to honor the state's fallen through a memorial project that's just getting started.
Gerry Strong, quartermaster of the Shelton VFW post, knows firsthand about the pain of losing a family member. His nephew from Oregon was killed in Afghanistan in January.
Strong, who retired from the printing business after a 30-year career, said he'd been making glass etchings for his grandchildren for their birthdays. He decided to do the same for his late nephew's family as a permanent memorial.
